Looking forward to Hellboy, which is set to hit Manila theaters April 21. With a review like this, you just gotta love it:

When Hellboy attempts to confess his love to Liz (Selma Blair), he mutters an apology about the way his face looks, passing his giant, clumsy hand dismissively across his perilous-rock-ledge brow and his barely present nose, which manages to be both hooked and flattened at the same time (although it is also mysteriously fine and noble). Left to their own devices, his horns would be giant, water-buffalo-style affairs, but he files them down to nubs that look like big slices of pepperoni -- "to fit in," as one character wryly puts it.

Dirty But Clean Pierre Director Guillermo Del Toro, who also did Blade II, puts a rich, poetic spin to the imagery. Read before that he turned down filming Harry Potter 3 because Hellboy's been his pet project for years. Good thing it paid off for both films, as Alfonso Cuaron (Y Tu Mama Tambien, A Little Princess, Great Expectations) seems to have done a superb Harry Potter film adaptation, IMHO.

Finished Booker Prize winner Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre a while back and I must say, I'm a fan. It's the kind of book that lets you in on a weird-ass joke one moment then wrenches your heart out the next. When I finished it, I wanted to read parts of the book again, which I did. And DBC Pierre has such a charming accent too. A more genteel Russell Crowe voice, I guess. Haay. ;)

About us

Best described as a Murakami detox support group, we're all fans of the quirkily brilliant Japanese author, Haruki Murakami, and writing about such things as films we've seen recently and books we're reading (not to mention meandering musings on the man's work, of course) helps us to pass time while waiting for the next book from Haruki-baby.
