Scary Christian Bale

Today was a good example of how one click leads to countless others, and how a short break to rest your eyes from work turns to half a day of browsing. Things I read:

Kurt Cobain 1. Gus Vant Sant's (Finding Forrester, Psycho, Good Will Hunting, To Die For) next film is about a Seattle grunge band, based on Kurt and Nirvana. Lukas Haas and Michael Pitt (The Dreamers, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) are set to appear
2. Nicole Kidman was convinced by her kids Conor and Isabella to accept the role of the White Witch in the upcoming film version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
3. Sir Ian McKellen will be in the film version of The Hobbit, with Peter Jackson at the helm again

See more skeletal Christian Bale photos here. For some months now I've also been reading on Batman Begins, that prequel starring Christian Bale as Batman, supported by huge names like Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Liam Neeson. Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe, and Katie Holmes will also appear. Directed by Memento's Chris Nolan, the film's now shooting in Iceland, they say, and is set for a July 2005 release. Browsing led me to The Machinist, which premiered at Sundance last January and features a skeletal Christian Bale (he lost 63 pounds or so for the role). It's set to be released at the end of the year and am so curious about it. Christian Bale's such a disciplined, effective actor-- how can you go wrong with him?

About us

Best described as a Murakami detox support group, we're all fans of the quirkily brilliant Japanese author, Haruki Murakami, and writing about such things as films we've seen recently and books we're reading (not to mention meandering musings on the man's work, of course) helps us to pass time while waiting for the next book from Haruki-baby.
